When the Office of Housing and Residential Life told me they wanted this year's theme for the Room Reservations event to be "The Wizard of Oz" my internal first reaction was not exactly excitement...

In fact, I thought it would be hard to somehow make that theme connect with the average college student in a relevant or interesting way.

Then I started to just have some fun with it and sort of took it in a twisted direction from what they were expecting, and I ended up with these hipster versions of the classic characters, somewhat playing off of the popular Hipster Disney Memes.

Using this and a lot of bright colors mimicking the original movie, the project was very successful.
